چکیده

We develop a Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD)-Galerkin based Reduced Order Model (ROM) for the efficient numerical simulation of parametric Navier–Stokes equations in stream function-vorticity formulation. Unlike previous works, we choose different reduced coefficients vorticity and function fields. In addition, studies use global POD basis space obtained from database time dependent full order snapshots related to sample points parameter space. test performance our ROM strategy with well-known vortex merger benchmark more complex case study featuring geometry North Atlantic Ocean. Accuracy efficiency are assessed both reconstruction physical parameterization.

Pure vorticity formulation and Galerkin discretization for the Brinkman equations

We introduce a new finite element method for the approximation of the three-dimensional Brinkman problem formulated in terms of the velocity, vorticity, and pressure fields. The proposed strategy exhibits the advantage that, at the continuous level, a complete decoupling of vorticity and pressure can be established under the assumption of sufficient regularity. The velocity is then obtained as ...

H2 solutions for the stream function and vorticity formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations

We show that the two dimensional Navier–Stokes equations in the stream function and vorticity form with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions have a unique solution with a stream function having two space derivatives. 2005 Published by Elsevier Inc.

Buoyant Convection Computed in a Vorticity, Stream-Function Formulation

Model equations describing large scale buoyant convection in an enclosure are formulated with the vorticity and stream function as dependent variables. The mathematical model, based on earlier work of the authors, is unique in two respects. First, it neglects viscous and thermal conductivity effects. Second the fluid is taken to be thermally expandable: large density variations are allowed whil...

A Stabilized Finite Element Method for Stream Function Vorticity Formulation of Navier-stokes Equations

We the solvability of the two-dimensional stream function-vorticity formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations. We use the time discretization and the method of characteristics order one for solving a quasi-Stokes system that we discretize by a piecewise continuous finite element method. A stabilization technique is used to overcome the loss of optimal error estimate. Finally a parallel numeric...

Reduced order models based on local POD plus Galerkin projection

A method is presented to accelerate numerical simulations on parabolic problems using a numerical code and a Galerkin system (obtained vía POD plus Galerkin projection) on a sequence of interspersed intervals. The lengths of these intervals are chosen according to several basic ideas that include an a priori estímate of the error of the Galerkin approximation. Several improvements are introduce...
